Design
North Point Pattaya
Bouygues Thai Construction construct NORTH POINT in Pattaya using slip form system. It is not easy then to add ledges proposed by the architect at 4 and 5 different levels on the lower and higher block respectively.
Glassfiber Reinforced Concrete (GRC) is then selected for such application. A hot dip galvanized C channel is fitted to the full length of the wall. Custom designed stainless steel flex anchors with four legs each is secured with bolts and nuts to the C-channel. The flex anchors fitted to the GRC molding during spray up to ensure best bonding to the structure.
Installation
The installation is of no easy task. Limitation of the gondola, competing schedule at site to work in harmony with other work team is just part of the difficulty. This beach front high rise have superb view but the wind gust can suddenly be fatal to installation and have to be delay until the wind die down. The length of each section of the GRC ledges have to be the same at each level and at the same time, not to exceed the loading allowable for the gondola.
Damages by spider man going up and down on boson chair as well as careless operator of gondola causing damage and delay. At the end, all the ledges are installed and after inspected both externally and internally to ensure all is done well and proper. To inspect and take picture of the inside, a small 10cm x 10cm opening is cut at the underside of the ledges and covered afterwards with a pvc cover. This will have the added advantage to allow any water collected inside to drain away.
