Cladding
This year also see the completion of Pornpitak Building, a commercial and office building in the heart of Bangkok. Total of over 2600 sq.m of white pigmented GRC columns.
Design
Total of over 2600 sq.m of white pigmented GRC columns with the largest one having a girth length of 4m. East Architect in Bangkok use a traditional Thai pattern for a full height of 27m. With the front 22 columns at 9m height at the front and side entrance to the building. Each column is 9m high and divided into 3 pieces. On top of the bottom 9m, 32 no. of 18m high 4 sides column clad the 3 sides of the building.
GRC offers both aesthetic appeal and practical benefits. The material’s high strength-to-weight ratio allows for the creation of slender, towering columns without compromising on structural integrity. The white color adds a sense of elegance and modernity, making it suitable for a wide range of architectural styles, from classical to contemporary. Additionally, GRC’s inherent durability ensures that the columns will withstand environmental stresses, such as wind, rain, and UV exposure, maintaining their pristine appearance over time.
Installation
The installation involves securing the GRC columns to the building structure using a steel frame anchored by bolts, ensuring stability and durability. This meticulous use of GRC highlights the material’s versatility and ability to support intricate designs while ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal.
With the high production capacity of up to 1000sq.m per day, GRC (Thailand) effortlessly added this additional work to the project and completed from mould making to installation within 30 days.
